Caring for your ring
A little care goes a long way. Here's how to look after the materials in this ring so it keeps looking its best.
Tungsten carbide
- Tungsten carbide is very hard, so it resists most everyday scratches. That hardness also makes it brittle: a hard knock or a drop onto tiles or stone can crack it, so take care around hard surfaces.
- Black, gunmetal and other coloured finishes are plated onto the surface and can slowly wear where the ring rubs most. Avoid abrasive cleaners, polishing compounds and harsh chemicals such as bleach.
Natural wood
- Wood is a natural material, so take your ring off before swimming, showering, washing up or anything that soaks your hands.
- Keep it away from harsh chemicals and perfume.
- Over time wood can dry out and its colour can mellow. A little beeswax wood polish every few months helps keep it nourished.
Opal
- Opal is softer than the metal around it, so avoid hard knocks and take your ring off for the gym and hands-on work.
- Don't soak it, and keep it away from harsh chemicals. Don't use ultrasonic or steam cleaners.
Cleaning & everyday care
Cleaning: wipe with a soft, dry cloth, like the cleaning cloth included with your order. Don't rinse or soak your ring, and if it does get wet, dry it straight away.
- Swap to the silicone ring included with your order for the gym, sport and hands-on work.
- Store your ring in its box, away from other jewellery, so nothing rubs or scratches it.
- Put on hand cream, sunscreen and perfume before your ring, and let them dry first.
